Review: Truth or Dare by Jacqueline Green

Hey guys! I know it has been a while since I posted my last review but college has been crazy!...fun, but crazy! :) However, yesterday I picked up a book I started a long time ago and I finally finished it last night so I have for you a review today :) I am definitely going to be getting back in my reading grove now that college life is starting settle down. So, I have for you a review of Truth or Dare by Jacqueline Green.
I really liked this book and its plot line. I found the story to be very suspenseful and the ending was truly something I didn't see coming. There are a lot of twists and turns throughout the book keeping me interested and on the edge of my seat. The book essentially revolves are 3 girls who are getting mysterious messages from an anonymous sender. Along with the threats of the messages you are also given the background romances throughout the novel along with regular girl drama. However, as I read the last page of the book I realized that this book was a lot like the Pretty Little Liars plot line. Sure, there are 3 girls instead of 4, but this book is very similar to Pretty Little Liars. Even the cover reminds me of Pretty Little Liars title sequence with Lucy Hale putting her finger to her lips. So, this is a really good book with a great plot and is a really good read, however the only downfall is its extreme similarities to Pretty Little Liars. It's not to big of a deal because I like the Pretty Little Liar series so I did enjoy this book a lot. its a great book and I cannot wait to read the sequel! :)
It all started on a whim: the game was a way for Tenley Reed to reclaim her popularity, a chance for perfect Caitlin “Angel” Thomas to prove she’s more than her Harvard application. Loner Sydney Morgan wasn’t even there; she was hiding behind her camera like usual. But when all three start receiving mysterious dares long after the party has ended, they’re forced to play along—or risk exposing their darkest secrets.
How far will Tenley, Caitlin and Sydney go to keep the truth from surfacing? And who’s behind this twisted game?
Set against the backdrop of Echo Bay, an isolated beach town haunted by misfortune, Truth or Dare is a highly charged debut that will keep readers in suspense from beginning to end.

ARC Review: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.
One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black.
So, this book is the first vampire book from Little, Brown since the Twilight Saga so naturally I had to give it a try given the big Twilight fan I am! I absolutely loved this book! The story and the characters are truly original and unlike any other vampire book I've read. This book gives you a nice refreshing take on vampires which is one of the reasons this book is as good as it is. Unlike Twilight, the center of this book does not revolve solely on the romance but rather the struggle and journey of the character Tana. The romance is sort a like a side story to the real meat of the novel. The adventure in this novel keeps you guessing with every page you turn. I also like that Tana is a very strong character who fights and fends for herself throughout the novel. If you like Twilight then you will like this book! However, if you don't like Twilight because you aren't keen on the focus of romance in the novel then I think you will enjoy this novel as well. I really wish there was a sequel to keep the story going but sadly it's just a standalone :(. You guys should definitely check this book out when it is released September 3rd, 2013!

Review: Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan

Nastasya has spent the last century living as a spoiled, drugged-out party girl. She feels nothing and cares for no one. But when she witnesses her best friend, a Dark Immortal, torture a human, she realizes something's got to change. She seeks refuge at a rehab for wayward immortals, where she meets the gorgeous, undeniably sexy Reyn, who seems inexplicably linked to her past.Nastasya finally begins to deal with life, and even feels safe--until the night she learns that someone wants her dead. Cate Tiernan, author of the popular Sweep series, returns with an engaging story of a timeless struggle and inescapable romance, the first book in a stunning new fantasy trilogy.
I have found my new weakness....Paranormal romances/adventures. I loved this book! Though it wasn't much action or adventure it is an interesting book about finding yourself and making new friends along the way...of course with a paranormal twist :). I love the main character! I love her grittyness and attitude...it really spices up the novel. I also love the underlying romances going on in this book. Though this may not be a book centered around action there are some really good interesting high points! I say give this book a shot because I found it to be really good! :) I'm actually in the middle of the second one now and so far it's great!

ARC Review: Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday

Hey I have another review for you guys today!!!!! Today I will tell you about a great book called Deadly Cool, which is actually going to be a series. This book comes out October 11, 2011! Here's the synopsis:
First I find out that my boyfriend is cheating on me. Then he’s pegged as the #1 suspect in a murder. And now he’s depending on me to clear his name. Seriously? As much as I wouldn’t mind watching him squirm, I know that he’s innocent. So I’m brushing off my previously untapped detective skills and getting down to business. But I keep tripping over dead bodies and I’m still no closer to figuring out who did it. And what’s worse: all signs seem to point to me as the killer’s next victim. I really need to pick a better boyfriend next time.
This was a great mystery book!! I am a huge fan of mystery books and this certaintly does mystery books justice. First of all the mystery itself was really good. I had no idea who the killer was and it's certaintly a surprise when you find out. Every chapter keeps you wanting more and more to find out whodunit. I also love the relationships between all the characters and I think it kept the book feeling like a teenage book. The plot, charcters, and overall book was great! I can't wait to read more from Gemma Halliday. I also absolutely LOVE the cover!!!! :) PS: Be on the lookout for the second book Social Suicide!
