Review: The Farm by Emily McKay

Hey guys! It's been a little while since I've posted a review because of my crazy busy schedule dealing with being a senior and college searching. I will trying to get more books read and posting more reviews and getting back into my groove :). So, I have a review for you today of The Farm by Emily McKay. I gotta tell you, this is a really great book if you are into romance, supernatural, vampires, and the Hunger Games.

The Farm by Emily McKayLife was different in the Before: before vampires began devouring humans in a swarm across America; before the surviving young people were rounded up and quarantined. These days, we know what those quarantines are—holding pens where human blood is turned into more food for the undead monsters, known as Ticks. Surrounded by electrical fences, most kids try to survive the Farms by turning on each other…And when trust is a thing of the past, escape is nearly impossible.

First off the book is told from three points of view.  You are told the story from the views of Lily, Mel, and Carter, however most of the story is told from Lily's point of view.  The story itself is alittle like the Hunger Games with vampires dropped into the mix.  The sisters are trapped in this community called The Farm and are desperate to escape before the turn 18.  Lily's twin sister Mel is autistic and provides a whole different view point of the story. Mel's view point was my favorite because I really loved how she saw everything in a completely different way that Lily saw things and she pays attention to so much detail.  Of course I love the budding romance between Lily and Carter and I loved reading the ups and downs of their relationship and watching them grow together as a potential couple.  This book will definitely keep you up all night reading and provides alot of plot twists and turns.  The ending of the book is really great and unexpected which was another thing I loved about the book.  I loved that it wasn't predictable.  This book is a great book about romance, family bond, and survival.  This would definitely be a great book to pick up and read!! I can't wait for the second book!!! :)

Musing Monday

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits. • Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s). • Tell us what you’re reading right now —what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.

My musing: I am currently reading The Girl in the Wall and so far it is very good! I am close to finishing so be on the lookout for a review soon :)
