Hi guys! Today I have for you a guest post from my book blog buddy Rae from Best O' Books!!! I hope you enjoy it and stop by and give Rae a visit!

To Meme or Not to Meme?
One of the first puzzling things I ran into when I started blogging and joined the Book Blogs site was people discussing blog memes. I thought I was (kind of) familiar with what the term meant, but the variety of these meme buttons and descriptions was most confusing. I like to read as many of the BB blogs as possible in my spare time (huh, what’s that?) and I wondered if participating in a weekly meme was worth my time and the effort to remember which day was which. Then I stumbled across Miz B’s Should Be Reading and saw over 200 comments posted on just one of her memes, Teaser Tuesdays. Over 200 people taking the time from personal life, work, reading and reviewing to write something for a silly online game, I thought. Then I read through a couple, then a few more, and suddenly lost track of time in what I previousl thought was just a silly endeavor. I realized I enjoyed the exposure to the world of bloggers at large, and to learning about a whole slew of new-to-me book titles.
Fast forward to today and I am at week 2 of my own meme, Sunday Undercover, and I still participate in Teaser Tuesdays. I have seen many more ideas for memes, most of them quite worthy of someone’s time, and all enjoyed by someone out there. I even figured out how to get a linky for the meme, (and did my homework to find out Mr. Linky now charges a fee so I found a free copycat). Some folks have said that memes are not for serious reviewers, that they clutter up the blogs and distract those from reading the book posts. Well, they have a point, but on the other side of the coin, we book bloggers do not get paid for the hard work we do. We do it for the love of books and the enjoyment of blogging. So if memes make our unpaid work fun and give us an easy way to connect with others out there with the same interests, I say go for it!

Sunday Undercover (1)

So here is my first Sunday Undercover post, hosted by Best O' Books. You choose a cover of a book that you've never read and tell us why it drew you in and what you think the cover means. You should join in the fun. I chose the cover of Hourglass by Myra McEntire.
This cover drew me in because it is so cool and unique. The girl is standing on a wall defying gravity. I think the cover depicts the mystery and parnormal aspect of the book. The cover is pretty dead on and is definitely on of my favorite book covers! What cover draws you in?

Question: What would you do if you were Amy and were awakened fifty years before you were supposed to? Tell us why!
If I was Amy and I was awakened fifty years before I were supposed to I would try and figure out why I was awakened fifty years before I was supposed to and also who woke me up fifty years before I would supposed to. That's what I would do.

Keep Your Eyes Out For This One!

Hi guys! One of my buddies is currently in the process of writing a book. It is called, The Zone Chronicles: Naga Ceyon. It is book one of a trilogy. I've read what she has so far and it's AMAZING!!! So, I asked her if I could share it with you guys and she said YES! So, here is an excerpt from her work in progress. When she finishes it I will be one of the first people to review so that I can tell you all about it! Ok, let me stop babbling and show you the excerpt:
Antoinette rolled off of the bed and strolled to her desk. Her hands met the book’s cover. She relished the feel of the rough leather on her fingertips. In her mind’s eye, she saw the beautiful land that was The Zone. For a brief moment, Antoinette was no longer a fifteen year old girl from Atlanta, Georgia. She was a brave warrior of one of The Zone’s most powerful Kingdoms, Zumiki. She felt the gentle winds comb her long, wavy hair. She closed her eyes and inhaled the spring breeze and the mighty river’s waters. Her hazel eyes reopened and she heard first the playful roar of a kureson, a water dragon, before spotting the mighty beast soar from the horizon, getting closer and closer to Antoinette before diving to the ground, landing gracefully in front of Antoinette. The proud beast lifted its mighty head to study the young girl. The noble creature tilted its head in acknowledgement to the warrior and spread a wing towards the girl, giving her permission to climb on.
Soon Antoinette was flying, higher, and higher upon the dragon’s back. The setting sun seemed to grow larger and larger. Antoinette spread out her arms and closed her eyes once more to take the full effect in. Her heart and mind were racing to keep up with the new sensations that came upon her. The great dragon below her glanced back at its rider. As Antoinette opened her eyes, she could have sworn that the dragon was smiling at her and soon Antoinette too was smiling, then laughing as she and her powerful companion continued their journey to the sun and beyond.
But the vision only lasted for a moment. If only I could go to there. She gave another sigh and went to lie back down on her bed. Sleep came shortly after.
**********************************
In her room, Antoinette plopped onto her bed and stared at the ceiling. Why doesn’t she understand me? Antoinette thought. Dad always did. Sighing, Antoinette turned over to her side. Her eyes wondered to a book on her desk. The lamp’s light reflected the gold print on the giant book’s black and silver binding, The Zone. Antoinette smiled, remembering the times her mother and father would read the many stories contained in that book every night before bed. Antoinette rolled off of the bed and strolled to her desk. Review: Time by Roger Reid

Here it finally is!!! Sorry for such the long wait but here we go! Today I have for you a review of Time by Roger Reid. Here's the synopsis:
Time is a great book for adventure and mystery lovers. This book contains alot of adventure with a splash of mystery. I love how Roger Reid doesn't fill the first few chapters alot of fill space and just gets down to the nitty-gritty :). I was disappointed in the fact that Jason and Leah's relationship didn't blossom into something more. I am a big fan of mystery books so I loved the mystery aspect of this book. Time is really more of a continuation of Longleaf since Leah and Carl Morris are reintroduced whereas Space had a whole new plot along with new characters. Lastly, I like how pieces of educational information are thrown in the book on the sly ;D (don't tell the kids!). This is a pretty ok read, especially if you are looking to learn alittle something also.
Jason Caldwell did not want to return to Alabama—ever. It’s just that he can’t turn down an invitation to go fossil hunting with his friend Leah. Jason and Leah soon find themselves in the midst of a mystery: someone is stealing scientifically important fossil footprints. To make matters worse, Carl Morris—the villain who tried to kill them in Longleaf— has escaped from jail. (rogerreidbooks.com)

The E-Reader Dilemma: My Choice is Clear

Hi! First off I want to thank everyone who gave me their opinion on which one to get, it really helped alot!So as you all know I have been in a real tough spot in deciding whether to get the Nook Color or the regular Nook. Well, I decided neither because I just so happened to be browing Barnes and Noble's website and guess what I saw!!!! I saw that they created a new version of the Nook and it comes out June 10,2011. In my opinion its better than the Kindle. Ok so here it is:
It has e-ink with no glare (plus!), a 6 inch touchscreen (plus!), the battery lasts up to 2 months on one charge (plus!), under 8 ounces (plus!), you can check out e-books from your public library (plus!), supports PDF (plus!), 2GB of storage (plus!), has over 2 million books to buy (plus!), and last but not least it is only $139 (plus!).
As you can see this meets all my requirements so this is the e-reader I will be purchasing :)! I'm so excited!!!! If you want to learn more about the new Nook click here.
What do you think, does it sound like a winner?

The E-reader Dilemma

Hey guys!!! So, I'm in a little bit of a dilemma here and I need your help. I am currently in the market for an e-reader so that I can accept more e-books to review. I've narrowed it down to the Nook by Barnes and Noble, but the problem is....should I get the Nook or the Nook Color?! The Nook is supposedly better for your eyes since it uses e-ink and the Nook Color uses an LCD screen. But....the Nook Color is soooo cool! It has apps, internet, pandora, plus it's an e-reader! The Nook is also cheaper than the Nook Color....which should I choose? I need your help!!! Tell me which one I should get down in the comments. :)
